Latest Updates from Our Project:

Update #6: Last 24 hours & the (giant) Gladius
over 8 years ago – Sat, Oct 03, 2015 at 05:27:49 AM

Dear Backers,

We made a great push last night and broke through another stretch goal. With all of the new backers who joined in the past 24 hours, we just funded this great new token, the largest 1st player token!!!

The new "Gladius" punched token - 26(~) cm long!

Next SG - “Revolt!”

“Revolt!” will be the first Stretch Goal that will be added to each copy (free of charge) as a mini-expansion. This new 5(~) card expansion will introduce new Province cards and will enable a new set of rules for solitaire mode.

I feel that another huge push can fund this Stretch Goal. When that happens, you will all receive a very nice and exclusive reward that is worthy for your great contribution.

I just wanted you all to know how much it meant for me and for every GEG team member.

Yours,

Elad

Update #4: Last 4 days and a new SG
over 8 years ago – Thu, Oct 01, 2015 at 09:46:22 AM

Dear Backers,

We just hit $10,000 in funding and unlocked a new Stretch Goal - Deluxe wooden tokens which are a replacement of all Victory Arch tokens (8 for each player) with beautiful new wooden meeples that will make the current map look even more impressive.

Spiel `15

We just confirmed with our Manufacturer that we will get 100+ copies of “Rome” to our booth (Hall 1 D146) at Essen. This amazing achievement will let a good portion of our backers get their game copy 5 days after they pay for it which will be a breaking new KS record for fastest fulfillment. Also, many backers and potential backers sent me requests to add new pledge levels so they can secure more copies.

I will add a new 24 pledge tier for combined pledge level (Rome + Prime Time).

I cannot take pre-orders for more copies but if any Spiel attendee wishes to pledge I will propose a very unique offer:

You can pledge for a Consul reward and sign up for our waiting list (pre-order) that we published on our website and BGG. We will take precedence for KS backers. If we run out of copies you will get your copy shipped free of charge (even if you live in Japan)! This way the Essen attendees will risk nothing in pledging :)

New SG

The next Stretch Goal at $12.5K is a humongous Gladius “punched” token (almost 28 cm long!) that will be awarded to the First player.

I want your feedback to determine the order of our future Stretch Goals ($15K + $17.5K). I have this suggestion in mind:

1. 4 new Roman family cards that will match your player color and provide a nice player aid on the other side of each card.

2. 4 New Senate cards - New scoring cards for Era II and a whole new ability.

3. 6 New cards - micro expansion “Revolt!” will add new alternative Province cards that will award VP instead of normal resources. Will support a new online solo variant.

Please tell me know your preference in order by commenting on the main comment section of our project and indicating your picks. If you have any cool suggestions, I am open minded and willing to listen to idea :)

Let’s finish this project on a high note so we all can get more stuff with each copy of Rome.

Yours,

Elad

Update #3: Project Funded!!!
over 8 years ago – Thu, Oct 01, 2015 at 09:45:57 AM

Dear Backers,

I just wanted to say a huge thank you!!

All 170+ backers just made another one of my design a vivid reality!!!

As there are more than 200 tabletop games out there, I’m very appreciative that you’ve chosen to back mine. I am humbled and very appreciative for your kind support!

New Intrigue cards - unlocked!

I added two new unique intrigue cards to each copy of Rome. Those cards can be mixed in your Senate deck and make the game much more ...Roman.

Vicarius:

Intrigue: Re-roll one unplaced die belonging to any player.

Greko Maximus:

Intrigue: Your Shows gain you 1 VP extra and are considered to be 1 rank higher for the purposes of determining “best show” .

Next SG - Victory Arch Tokens

At the $10,000 funding level we can unlock token sets for each player that will replace the cardboard tokens to a beautiful meeple arch.

A 3D mock up of the final model - Red.
A 3D mock up of the final model - Red.

(32 wooden tokens - 8 in each color).

I am very excited and really hope to unlock as much Stretch Goals as we can so each backer will receive more value for your kind support.

Yours,

 Elad

Update #2: Production Update & A New Pledge Level
over 8 years ago – Thu, Oct 01, 2015 at 09:45:33 AM

Dear Backers,

I am happy to provide updates on several topics.

Production

As we are nearing our funding level, I ordered our manufacturer to start with the first print run! The first few copies will be ready by Spiel and I will have a chance to hold a final copy of Rome in 3 weeks :)

New Pledge Level

As we recently funded another KS project which will also be debuting at Spiel, I wanted to offer an exclusive copy of Prime Time - with all the SG reached during the Prime Time campaign by adding a new Pledge level at $85, and will include both games ($40 for Rome and $45 for Prime Time).

More details on Prime Time you can find by hitting the image below:

German Rules & Future Localization

I am working long and hard with Ferdinand to prepare the German rules, I hope we can publish a very first draft in a couple of days. I got many kind offers to translate Rome into new languages. I am more than pleased to hear that and if anyone wants to help us make this game more accessible - I will be at your service :)

Final Words

As we are making progress in funding Rome, word has been spreading through media and PR channels, bringing Rome to the top of BGG’s hotlist. It is currently expected to be one of the most sought out games in the upcoming Spiel.

I wish to ask for your support to raise Rome from a backer perspective, so we can attract more potential backers.

Update #1: First day at KS - 50% funded!
over 8 years ago – Thu, Oct 01, 2015 at 09:45:15 AM

Dear Backers,

I would like to start by thanking you for choosing our game and supporting us in time of need. Your funds will help us to publish our 2nd game for 2015.

I also wish to thank KS for electing our project as their “Staff Picked” honors :)

A little History...

This game has been on my own personal drawing table for 7 years!! I was inspired greatly from my visit to the internal city in 2008. I was also inspired by shows (HBO - “Rome” , Starz - “Spartacus” and many more) to create this great thematic background into a very cool dice game. I wanted to capture the essence of the great Roman empire in one board game and I made it!

Rome is an exciting game that packs an epic X4 game into 60 minutes of a fun dice-chuckling game. Rome fits every player and gaming group. Even families can enjoy this Historical thriller in just under an hour.

Production and Spiel `15

We just finished proofing and preparing the very first print run for Rome to Spiel (in 3 weeks!) and we are ready to hit the green light to start the printing. I hope that we can fund this game in a matter of days so we can record a breakthrough in KS by getting rewards to backers while still in the collection process of KS. Reaching that feat should be very exciting!

In this last segment, I wish to honor and thank one of our team members, on this moment, our good friend Ferdinand Kother. He is the man in charge of the German adaptation of the rules and an overall support to our rules team.

“Always loved playing games, as a kid with family Monopoly (of course), Rommé, Halma etc. - and a bit later as a youth, with one friend especially, we played endless Monopoly battles, venturing into mind sport with Gobang and even Go or Chess with my father. With the most pivotal impact of the Beatles in the very first place (and other cohorts following), games were put back into second or third rank, but never lost out of sight. Despite a degree in mechanical engineering, the music business was my profession for the most part of my life.

A visit to the SPIEL `86 opened the bottle again and with my habit of making my hobby my profession, or kind of in this case, I soon started translating games rules, displeased by so many bad and incompetent translations – and rules as well. Though done in a professional way, after a little time of tries (many) and errors (few), doing translations shifted gradually from “done for good” to generating a little extra income, now and then. More than 400 translations (English-German and vice versa) for many national and international big and small publishers over the years remain unchallenged, both in quality and quantity, besides editorial work and writing reviews, many hundreds by now as well.

That many translations, editorial work and reviews – but only one game designed by myself so far: 1000 Islands Railway. Being the rules expert, that is not my ambition. Many more rules and reviews will follow by the pack, and maybe one or two more games of my own.

Quote by Martin Wallace: “Ferdi’s rules are better than the original.” It’s true, and sometimes easy to achieve, sometimes not so…”

Final words, I am humbled and honored to have your support. No words can describe how much each backer is meaningful and impactful to our cause.

Yours,

Elad
